Dr Randa Mahmoud

Dr. Randa A. Mahmoud is an architect–urbanist and Dean of the College of Architecture and Design at Prince Sultan University. She holds a PhD in Urbanism from the Institut d’Urbanisme de Paris and is Professor of Environmental Planning at Ain Shams University.

Dr. Mahmoud has served as Senior Architect and Urban Planner at DAR and Head of Architecture at Université Française d’Égypte, where she coordinated the dual-degree program with INSA Strasbourg. She has also been an invited professor and researcher at INSA Strasbourg.

In 2013, she was nominated for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture for her work on the Beit Al Rawi private residence. Her research interests include urban resilience, vernacular architecture and urbanism, cultural identity, early-stage urban gentrification, and climate-responsive design.
