From 2011 to 2015, he served as Chief Architect of Barcelona (now the UNESCO-UIA World Capital of Architecture 2026) where he helped shape the city’s strategic vision and major urban development projects.
He founded the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in 2001, an internationally renowned research and education institution based in Barcelona that has more than 2,500 alumni around the world.
