Omar Al-Rawi

Omar Al-Rawi currently chairs the City Council Committee for Urban Development, Mobility and Vienna Public Utilities, with a particular focus on integrated urban development that connects the built environment with public space, mobility, infrastructure, resilience and community needs.

His work reflects Vienna’s integrated approach to urban development, viewing buildings as critical infrastructure and considering the built environment alongside public space, mobility, energy, resilience and community needs. He has advocated for the “city of short distances”, where housing, transport, services and green spaces are planned together to create inclusive, connected neighbourhoods for future generations.

Working closely with the City of Vienna’s international relations team, Mr Al-Rawi is an experienced speaker at European and international forums and regularly engages with Vienna-based international organisations, sharing the city’s approach to sustainable urban development, public transport, green space and affordable housing.
