John Newbigin OBE

John Newbigin OBE is co-founder of Creative England, now Creative UK, a public/private partnership that provides research and business support to creative businesses and invests in creative content and digital technology, and was its first Chair, from 2011 to 2018.

As Special Advisor to the UK Minister for Culture, he was part of the team that developed the world’s first definitions and policies for the creative industries in the 1990s. He works with governments and public agencies around the world developing cultural and creative policies.

He is London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s Ambassador for the Creative Industries and is a member of the International Steering Committee of the World Conference on Creative Economy. He is a Visiting Fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London and was an Honorary Professor at the University of Hong Kong.
