HRH Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud

Governor of Aseer Region & Chairman, Aseer Development Authority
Saudi Arabia

Prince Turki bin Talal is one of Saudi Arabia’s most visionary leaders, blending political science and military discipline with a deeply human-centred approach to development.

A graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the U.S. Army Aviation School, he rose to the rank of Brigadier General (Pilot) before being appointed Governor of Aseer.

“The military taught me discipline; humanitarian missions taught me perspective; and my personal losses taught me endurance. Pain is not an excuse to stop — it is a reason to rise.”

These lessons shaped a leadership philosophy anchored in humility, service, and resolve.

Since assuming office, he has led Aseer’s transformation through a values-driven model that empowers people and fosters inclusive growth. He built consensus through results, not promises — because when people see action, resistance fades. He believes that “listening is not weakness; it is a source of strength.”

Prince Turki’s approach rests on building horizontal trust between institutions and vertical accountability before the people. His leadership has advanced community engagement, investment, tourism, infrastructure, education, and healthcare — positioning Aseer as a model for balanced, sustainable, and human-centred growth that will inspire every region in the Kingdom.

He lives by the Sandhurst ethos: “Serve to lead.” For him, leadership in essence has remained the same — serve to lead. He works on the ground — “one day I’m solving a water issue, and the next, with ministers or their deputies … the day ends late, with reflection.” His guiding principle: “You must go there, see it, feel it, and fix it.”

Prince Turki’s vision is rooted in identity: “Development does not mean erasing identity. We must be modern without being uniform.” He has redefined what it means to lead a region — creating a place where “all those who wish to join them can dream, build, and belong happily without having to leave. That will be the true legacy.”

Criticism does not deter me; it reminds me that I am visible — and that is a good thing.

Under his leadership, Aseer has evolved into a thriving destination where nature, culture, and opportunity converge under a bold vision aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. Tangible results speak louder than words: the region’s local GDP surged from 112 billion SAR to 156 billion SAR; unemployment dropped from 17.8% in Q1 2019 to 9.8% in Q2 2025; inflation fell dramatically from 7.4% to just 0.2%; and private sector contribution soared from 500 million SAR to over 10 billion SAR. What once had no PIF projects now proudly hosts four transformative mega-projects, signalling renewed investor confidence and national recognition of Aseer’s potential.

Prince Turki’s mission in Aseer stands as a living extension of the historic transformation led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince — a transformation reshaping the very fabric of the Kingdom.

Prince Turki describes his leader as “one who possesses the ambition of a reformer, the courage to confront deeply rooted challenges, and the clarity to articulate a future no one dared to define before.”

His own work in Aseer reflects that same spirit, that translates the national vision into action on the ground, where change is not only seen, but felt in people’s lives.
