H.E. Eng. Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma

His Excellency Eng. Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, a native of Katsina State, was appointed Minister of Housing and Urban Development by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and sworn in on 24 April 2026. He oversees affordable housing, land access and sustainable urban development.

Dr. Darma is an engineer, administrator and public policy expert. He served as Katsina State Commissioner and Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (2008–2012). He holds doctoral degrees in Business Administration and Industrial Engineering.

As Minister, Dr. Darma leads the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme and drives reforms in housing finance and regulation to expand mortgage access, protect homebuyers, and attract greater private and international investment in Nigeria’s housing sector.
