With a 30-year career in the public and third sectors, she has focused on social impact, equity, and environmental sustainability. Her tenure as Mayor saw her transform council services and secure Eurovision 2023 hosting rights on behalf of the UK.

Joanne is currently working on the UK's first social investment placed-based pathfinder with a goal of attracting £50 million to support the regions social economy in growing their economic and social impact.

Joanne’s academic experience includes a wide-ranging background in research. Passionate about supporting business growth -Her first degree was in business studies and she has recently completed a Business Scale-Up MBA.
