Catherine Carty

Catherine Carty is a leading figure in disability inclusion globally. She has been the UNESCO Chair Manager at MTU in Ireland since 2013. UNESCO is the lead UN body responsible for sports and physical education.

Catherine supports the disability inclusion actions of UNESCO’s sports policy and FitForLife programme. She has convened and participated in many UN events on this topic and chaired the disability group for WHO's 2020 Physical Activity Guidelines.

She works to advance sustainable development goals and the principle 'no one left behind'. She is a system thinker and thought leader advocating globally for better provision for people with disabilities in line with the Paris 2024 Call to Action.
